Low concentrations of H 2 O 2 increase catalase activity in S. cerevisiae. Exponential-phase cells (A) and stationary-phase cells (B) were exposed to the indicated steady-state H2O2 concentrations for 60 min. The values are the mean ± standard deviation of n≥5 independent experiments. The activity of control cells (without added H2O2) was 0.29 ± 0.07 min-1mg-1 for exponential-phase cells and 4.51 ± 0.67 min-1mg-1 for stationary-phase cells. *P < 0.05 vs control; **P < 0.001 vs control.
