Intensities of the PCR bands obtained for each time point (24 h, 40 h and 72 h) for a particular gene were compared. Relative intensity (R.I) for a band (or relative expression, R.E.) is reported as the ratio of the absolute intensity of the band to the highest absolute intensity recorded for any time-point. Absolute intensity values were measured with Adobe Photoshop software. The number in parenthesis indicates the expected size of PCR product obtained using genomic DNA.
