Overexpression of desat1 in oenocytes results in an increase of unsaturated hydrocarbons (monoenes and dienes) and a decrease in saturated ones. Three different UAS-desat1 lines (a, b, c) were used. n = 10 for all tests. All the hydrocarbon differences between control (1407-GAL4/+) and desat1 overexpressing lines (1407-GAL4/UAS-desat1) were significantly different (P < 0.05, Student's t-test).
