Effect of metal concentration on arginase activity in B. anthracis 7702 extracts. Cells were grown on CBA plates at 37°C for 24 h in 5% CO₂ in air, harvested, and extracts prepared as described in Methods. The extracts were heat-activated (50–55°C for 30 minutes) with increasing concentrations of NiCl₂ (A, high concentrations; B, low concentrations), MnSO₄ (C), or CoCl₂(D) at pH 9.0 (in BTP-buffered arginine).
