  1. The reaction mixture comprised of 1 ml of 0.2 M, sodium phosphate buffer pH 7.4 containing 10 μM of one of the substrates namely, hypoxanthine, xanthine or 6MP. The concentration range of allopurinol and APP were 0–3 μM and 0–100 μM, respectively for all three substrates. The concentration range of AHMP and APT were 0–100 μM and 0–50 μM, respectively for all three substrates. The reaction was initiated by the addition of 2.8 U/ml of bovine XOD.
