  1. Xenopus oocytes were injected with 50 nl water (control), or with 5 ng human AQP1 (hAQP1), rat AQP2 (rAQP2), rat AQP9 (rAQP9), human AQP11 (hAQP11), myc-tagged human AQP11 (myc-hAQP11), or with 25 ng human AQP11 cRNA and tested for water, glycerol, urea, and ion transport. Some oocytes were pre-incubated for 5 minutes with 0.1 mM HgCl2 (Hg). Units for water transport are μm/sec, for glycerol and urea transport 10-6 cm/sec, and for ion conductance μA/V. Data represent mean ± SD for 6–10 oocytes, except for ion conductance which is mean ± SE for 3–5 oocytes.
