SYP4 and VTI1 family-mediated fusion can be inhibited by soluble VTI11 or soluble VTI12. Reconstituted vesicles containing either SYP41 (A), SYP42 (B) or SYP43 (C) were mixed with YKT62 and either soluble VTI11 or soluble VTI12 for 30 min, followed by addition of either R-VTI11 or R-VTI12. The fluorescence did not increase significantly (less than 4%), indicating inhibition of the fusion reaction in the presence of soluble VTI11 or soluble VTI12. D.
