  1. Measurements were made in 100 mM HEPES, 1 mM EDTA, 5 mM ascorbate, 103 U/ml catalase, at 10°C. The values for PEG-Hboxy were calculated from published data taking into account the temperature dependence of the oxygen binding parameters.
