  1. Male and female rats were fasted for 4 or 12 h, blood samples were collected and analyzed for insulin, glucagon, corticosterone and glucose. The ratio between insulin and glucagon was calculated. The data are presented as means ± SEM (n = 4) and analyzed using two-way ANOVA and Fisher's LSD test.
