(A) Hepatic glucose output was measured in liver perfusates 40 min after saline- or insulin-treatment (n = 4 rats/group). (B) The ratio between phosphorylated (p-Akt-Ser473) and total Akt was determined using ELISA in whole liver cell lysates derived from fasted rats 40 min after saline- or insulin-treatment (n = 6-7 rats/group). (C) Hepatic Angptl4 mRNA levels were quantified by real-time PCR and normalized to the housekeeping gene Arbp (n = 4 rats/group).
